Visiting Looking Glass Falls - How to Get There
You can visit Looking Glass Falls by taking Highway 276 from
Brevard's Highway 64 and Highway 280 and going for about 5 and 1/2
miles. Access is very simple and even those in wheel chairs, or
otherwise handicapped can view with ease. You simply pull to the edge
of the road; there are a number of parking spots. For those so
inclined, a path leads to the bottom of the falls where there is a swimming
area. It's not more than three feet deep, but it offers free relief
from the heat during July or August, when the sun warms the area.
A word of warning: don't be the next fool that Brevard Fire Department
has to pluck from the falls. About one person every couple years ends
his vacation (and life) at Looking Glass Falls. Several are injured
each year. Do not try to climb the falls. Do not walk above the
falls. Do not jump into the pool below. Be smart. Plenty
of non-locals come here every year and think they can safely maneuver the
falls and end up becoming a floater in the pool below, ruining the day for
many and probably creating mental anguish for children who see your dumb ass
